The plan for now and the future:
  • Increase student engagement
  • Nurture all student needs
  • Understand and create achievable learning goals
  • Increase staff abilities to 'value add' to each and every students' potential.

How:
  • Create a transition program for year nine students entering year ten in 2010
  • The Transition Program will centre around the importance of 'Leading and Learning in the Later Years'
  • Assist staff in their ability to use a shared language around Emotional Intelligence when discussing, sharing and collaborating with each other and in developing each student in our school community.
  • Develop more of a sense of community at Ballarat High School

Who will be involved:
  • Later years team leaders
  • Year nine staff from the ARCH program
  • MIPS (managing individual pathways) staff.
  • Later and Middle years Assistant Principal's
  • Teaching and Learning Assistant Principal's
  • Learning Advisers
  • Students in transition
  • All members of the school community will be part of the process in some way, as the program will benefit the whole school.

The program:
  • The program is currently a work in progress. Discussions so far have been around staff involvement and creating a transition afternoon for all year nines entering year ten. MIPS staff and Later Years Team Leaders, Later Years Assistant Principal, ARCH staff have all so far offered ideas for the day and offered their assistance.

Discussion:
For further ideas for the program, please feel free to post them here in this discussion forum.
